Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The GSLDS's mission is to empower each individual member, the organization, and our community as a whole through fostering its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We understand that diversity is defined, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, age, physical abilities/qualities, sexual orientation, religious and ideological beliefs, professional practices choices, and personal lifestyle preferences.
We aim to foster better understanding within the GSLDS by proposing and implementing programs with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion. We will propose methods such as providing opportunities to further educate our existing members, and to unbiasedly explore what could create greater interest and trust in our organization with potential members.
We will do this by focusing on the power which can be unleashed through ensuring our organization has robust, authentic, and diverse input. We will also seek to responsibly invite feedback within the local dental community in an effort to grow and celebrate an ever-increasingly diverse membership. Last, we aim to fundamentally examine what truly defines an open, welcoming organization to all potential members in our community through reviewing our current methods and reviewing both feedback we obtain, and by learning about successful existing D&I models.
We understand that the success of every organization hinges on the spirit of celebrating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We seek to be at the forefront of guiding this organization towards improving understanding, creating opportunities, and truly empowering all people in our dental community.
